HW and Schedule for the next 7 days or so...

1. HW due on Tuesday/Wednesday (Day of our Field trip):

1)  3 minute debate statement/thesis that summarizes your candidate's position & policies on your specific topic (Oil, Alternative Energy, Nuclear or Climate Change).  Please see the tips that Bill Meyer is recommending for Debate Statements.  (Link below).  (Make a copy for each of your partners and 1 for Liz.  Give this to your group members Tuesday or Wednesday. You may email out copies and/or provide hard copies!)

2)  Prepare a list of questions that you have regarding any content, policy that comes up as you are preparing/working on this assignment.  What do you want to know more about?    (Only 1 copy to Liz is needed.)

You may prepare your typed statement/thesis in 2 parts:

Part 1:  Bullet points including examples and policies that relate to your candidate's positions on this topic
Part 2:  3 minute summary that effectively describes your candidates overall perspective on this topic (See Bill's tips for this).

OR

You may prepare your typed statement/thesis in 1 part:

Part 1:  3 minute summary that effectively describes your candidates overall perspective on this topics.

2. Tuesday/Wednesday:  Field Trip (Pull Scotch Broom on Ridge again)  Meet in MA circle at 8 am. We will leave at 8:00 am so please be on time!

HW:  Tuesday/Wednesday night:  Review your partners' rough draft statements.  Come up with 1 revised statement that best describes/summarizes your group's work and the candidate's policies.  Type up your final draft and bring to class and/or email to Liz.

3.  Thursday/Friday:  Work on Democracy Conference Debate in class

HW:  Prepare counter points for your group's issue.  What will the "other side" present as their main ideas?   Prepare a 1 page draft of these points in preparation for the debate and your rebuttal.  What weaknesses exist on both "sides"?  What are the strengths?  What evidence do you have to support your arguments?
